HIGHLAND | Construction has been completed on the portion of Indianapolis Boulevard just north of Ridge Road.
Barrels may still be on the roadway in the coming days to tend to a few minor odds and ends, said Indiana Department of Transportation spokesman Matt Deitchley.
If there is any lane closure, it will be minimal, he said.
But all the lanes of traffic were open as of Sunday, he said.
The project to expand the roadway kicked off more than a year ago, restricting traffic to two lanes for the past few months.
The bridge that formerly carried Indianapolis Boulevard over abandoned railroad tracks there has been demolished.
As part of the project, a tunnel under Indianapolis Boulevard has been constructed for bicycles and pedestrians. On the north end of the project, near the Coach USA bus terminal, a large pumping station is under construction to deal with the frequent flooding in the area, which is immediately east of Wicker Park.
