HIGHLAND | NIPSCO is investigating reports of brief, frequent power outages in Highland and Griffith, representatives said Tuesday.
Kathleen Szot, spokeswoman for NIPSCO, said the utility received several reports of short power outages from customers. Some customers reported frequent outages lasting around 30 seconds near O'Day Drive and 45th Avenue and at Beiriger Elementary School at 601 N. Lilian St. in Griffith.
Szot said NIPSCO keeps a database that records frequent service outages in a particular area. NIPSCO's operations team is investigating the cause, she said.
Often, frequent reports of outages in the same area, Szot said, are caused by circuitry failing or a need for tree trimming.
