HIGHLAND | The decapitated body of a 53-year-old man was discovered Friday morning on the railroad tracks near Highway Avenue and First Street, according to Highland police.

“The man committed suicide. He put his head on the track as the train came through about 6 a.m.,” Highland police Cmdr. George Georgeff said.

A neighborhood resident walking home found the body. The report came in at 7:13 a.m., Georgeff said.

The Lake County coroner’s office was called to the scene and pronounced the man dead at 8 a.m., Georgeff said. The coroner’s office has notified the man's family.

The Times is withholding the man's name because of his manner of death. No other details were available.
