Elks host Notre Dame dinner

HIGHLAND | The Highland Elks host a Notre Dame Bowl Championship Game Tailgate Dinner from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The menu includes all-you-can-eat burgers, brats and hot dogs, draft beer and soda. Watch the Notre Dame vs. Alabama championship game on the big screens. Admission is $10.

Vocal Ensemble seeks singers

HAMMOND | Books, Brushes and Bands for Education is enrolling students (grades three through high school) for the Vocal Ensemble directed by Jade Maze from the Merit School of Music. Choir rehearsal is every Monday from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the Hammond Public Library. The Vocal Ensemble performs throughout the year at events. The cost is $145 for 20 weeks. Coaches aiding cancer fight

HOBART | Money will be raised for the American Cancer Society at Coaches vs. Cancer from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at  Hobart High School, 2211 E. 10th St. T-shirts will be available in the athletic office at the high school, and any student who wears the shirt the night of the game is admitted free. Student dance teams face off 

MUNSTER | Munster High School dance teams host the 15th annual Munster Dance Invitational from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the high school field house, 8808 Columbia Ave. Approximately 30 high school dance teams from Northern Indiana will compete in a variety of areas, including pom, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and kick. There also will be solo, ensemble and duet performances. A variety of vendors also will be on hand. The event is open to the public. Admission is $7.

SATURDAY

Arts League holds fundraiser

HOBART | The Hobart Arts League hosts a chili and hot dog lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the league office, 3850 Howard St. The cost for adults is $6; children 9 years old and younger are $3. Menu includes chili or hot dog, noodles, cornbread, drink and dessert. Additional desserts are available for purchase.
