Clauses for Causes hits streets

HOBART | Hobart hosts its annual Santa Fun 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk beginning at 9 a.m. at Hobart Community Center at Festival Park, 111 E. Old Ridge Road. It's a non-timed event for both athletes and nonathletes, the event is about spreading holiday cheer in full Santa suits, Santa hats or any other holiday wear, walking or running through the streets of Hobart. Participants can raise money through sponsor pledges for a favorite local charity, school or church. Fee includes refreshments, live entertainment after the event and costume contests (prizes will be awarded). Register online under Special Events/Santa Walk & Run. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. Mashed potatoes serve up fun

HAMMOND | Mommy's Little Piggy's Mashed Potato Eating Contest, part of "A Christmas Story" Comes Home, is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corrine Drive., Hammond. M'ville group hosts style show

HOBART | Promising Futures, a group which works with the state of Indiana to break the cycle of domestic violence, hosts a luncheon/fashion show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Avalon Manor, 3550 E. ABATE kicks in Toyz for Kidz

CROWN POINT | Lake County ABATE of Indiana sponsors a benefit dinner, the Toyz 4 Kidz party, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Lake County Fairgrounds 4-H Building to support Lake County families in need this holiday season. The cost is $15 and includes dinner, pictures with Santa, and live music by the Wise Guys. There is a cash bar, minimum age is 21. Proceeds go to the Dyer Methodist Church to fund their Angel Tree Program.
