HIGHLAND | Suburban Bible Church will host the Indiana Wesleyan University Wind Ensemble in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, 3010 41st St.
The wind ensemble, under the direction of Michael Flanagin, strives to present the highest level of performance through concert band and wind ensemble literature. Their concerts include a variety of musical styles featuring standard concert band literature, gospel and hymn arrangements, patriotic selections and historical transcriptions.
The ensemble has performed in 17 states and was featured at the Indiana Music Educators Convention in Indianapolis. Each year, the ensemble performs in churches as well as conducting a biannual tour during the school's spring break.
Flanagin serves as director of instrumental music at Indiana Wesleyan University, and formerly taught instrumental and vocal music in secondary public schools in Illinois and Indiana. He received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University-Bloomington and a master's in music from Ball State University.
There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be collected to benefit the wind ensemble.
