HOBART | The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter will present the Northwest Indiana Area Caregiver Conference from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Avalon Manor, 3550 E. U.S. 30.
The presenter is Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, a dementia expert who trains and consults. Her "been there-done that" skills as a caregiver and her formal training give her the credibility and experience to help caregivers with tried-and-true solutions.
"Managing Behavior: Start With Yourself" focuses on the role caregiver behaviors, words, actions and reactions play in the behaviors typically seen in people living with dementia. Music, hands-on skills and humor are other topics.
The cost is $25, or $60 for professional caregivers, and includes lunch. CEUs will be available. Call (800) 272-3900 to register, or visit www.alz.org/indiana and click on Merrillville Caregiver Conference.
