HOBART | A 34-year-old Crown Point man stole more than $33,000 in jewelry from a Hobart home where he had been working, police said.
Patrick M. McCullom was charged with theft in Lake County court.
Police were contacted by a woman who lives in the 7300 block of Kestral Avenue about a number of items missing from her house, court documents state.
The woman said the items came up missing after she had some tile work done on her house by a person known as McCullom, court documents state.
The items missing included a diamond ring valued at close to $29,000; two diamond bracelets valued at $3,500; a gold band valued at $1,000; a laptop valued at $800 and $500 in cash, court documents state.
Some of the jewelry was later recovered by police at an area jewelry store.
