HOBART | A Chicago woman gave away more than $4,000 in unpaid merchandise while employed at Best Buy, police said.
Tiara D. Thomas, 23, was charged with theft through Lake Superior Court.
Police were called to Best Buy, 2496 E. 79th Ave., on Dec. 12 about thefts of an employee named Thomas, court documents state.
A store manager told police that Thomas had admitted to giving away $4,405 in unpaid merchandise, court documents state.
Thomas later admitted to police she had misused the company's Reward Zone program by charging friends and family with one or two items then letting them leave with multiple unpaid items, court documents state.
