HOBART | A Chicago woman violated a child custody order by removing her 4-year-old daughter from an aunt's Hobart home, police said.
Claudia Delaine Thames was charged in Lake County court with interference with child custody and battery.
Police were called by the former husband of Thames, who said he had arranged for their daughter to spend time with his aunt in Hobart, court documents state.
Instead, Thames on Jan. 26 traveled from Chicago to Hobart and took took her 4-year-old daughter after striking the aunt in the face, court documents state.
Thames, who has not had custody of her daughter for more than a year, has refused to give the girl back to the father, who has legal custody, court documents state.
