CROWN POINT |  A 23-year-old Chicago woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted theft at Kohl’s Department Store in Hobart in June 2013.

Ashley R. Williams accepted a plea agreement offered by the Lake County prosecutor’s office that could result in a prison sentence of six months to three years. No recommended sentence was part of the documents filed with Lake County Criminal Court Judge Diane Boswell.

Williams said she attempted to buy clothing using a credit card obtained with fraudulent identification.

Williams told Boswell she was part of a group attempting to buy items using someone else’s identification at the Hobart store.

Boswell will sentence Williams on Feb. 20.
