HOBART | The Hobart Middle School robotics team is doing very well. This is the first ever competitive robotics team in the School City of Hobart District. There are nine sixth graders and two seventh graders. These children are building teamwork, robots, and projects.
We have been working really hard and are planning to continue our hard work. Our team is confident that we will do very good at our competition in a few weeks. We have learned that our coaches and mentors do not know everything and that we learn together. We have also learned that we all have to work together and remember that we are all human.
We can’t do everything by ourselves. Out of all eleven team members, only two members researched the entire project. That is worth one-third of the points we can earn during our whole competition.
The team has been using all core values that are included in the project. Some of these core values include using gracious professionalism and cooperation through being open-minded to each others ideas. We are a team by helping each other and not denying people’s ideas. Also, we have fun by telling each other jokes and throwing foam bricks at our coach.
They are getting ready for their first competition on Nov. 24. At our competition there are many things we will be doing. First, we are doing our presentation for five minutes following will be a five minute question and answer session. Then we have our first round of the robot mission. Following will be our core values presentation which is a list of core values that help us become better individuals. Next is round two of the robot mission, and then our robot presentation. Finally, there is round three of the robot mission where we can earn awards.
