HOBART | Hobart firefighters responded early Sunday to a small garage fire in the 1300 block of West 38th Place, officials said.

The fire, which was reported at 1:30 a.m., was contained primarily to the exterior of the garage. The fire also damaged the interior of the garage attic.

None of the living space in the house was affected by the fire and the family was not displaced, acting Fire Chief Brian Kerr said.

Kerr credited quick action by two Hobart police officers who arrived and used a garden hose to help contain the fire before firefighters arrived.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
