HOBART | A 63-year-old Hobart man told police he battered his girlfriend after she came after him with a knife and sledge hammer, police said.

No charges were filed in a dispute reported to police at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police Detective Jeremy Ogden said.

The 58-year-old girlfriend, who lives in an apartment in the 600 block of Shelby Place, was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, where she was treated and released.

The woman told police her live-in boyfriend, whom she found naked in another apartment, struck her with a closed fist after she confronted him about the situation.

Police were called back to the 600 block of Shelby Place on Sunday on a trespassing complaint by the woman.

Her boyfriend then admitted he had previously struck the woman when she came after him with a knife and sledge hammer, police said.
