HOBART | Two Valparaiso women stole scrapbooking items and attempted to return the merchandise for cash refunds at the same Hobart store, police said.

Jenna Lynn Wheatman, 28, and Danielle S. Lloyd, 24, of Valparaiso, were charged with conversion in Lake Criminal Court.

Police said they were called July 10 in reference to two separate thefts, one at the Olive Garden, 1900 Southlake Mall Drive, and a second at Hobby Lobby, 2783 E. 79th Ave.

In the incident at Olive Garden, two woman had allegedly used a fraudulent gift card to pay for a $41.48 bill, court documents state.

On that same day, Hobby Lobby employees told police a woman, later identified as Wheatman, had attempted to receive $69.97 for items she attempted to return without receipts.

The items, including scrapbooking supplies, had been stolen by Wheatman's companion, Lloyd, court documents state.

Olive Garden management declined to pursue the matter criminally.
