HOBART | The City Council will take a temporary pass on approving the Hobart Marsh Plan because some minor changes are needed.

"The plan just needs a little fixing ... just some housekeeping issues to clean up," said Councilman David Vinzant.

He said most of the council supports the plan.

"In the end it will be added to the city's master plan," Vinzant said.

The Hobart Marsh Plan, which will encompass 1,000 acres of park and wetlands on the city's west side, will include Robinson Lake Park as its hub, former City Planner A.J. Bytnar said.

Sandy O'Brien, Friends of Robinson Lake spokeswoman, asked why the council tabled the plan.

"You know we support the plan and hope there's no changes planned other than housekeeping. It's a really good plan and should be good for all of Hobart.

"Is it going back to the Plan Commission?" O'Brien asked.

The Plan Commission approved the plan on Jan. 3.

Denarie Kane, the city's development director, said she will meet with consultants and a decision will be forthcoming on whether changes will warrant Plan Commission reconsideration.
