HOBART | This year's Fourth of July parade, A Celebration of the Hobart Family, will step off at 10 a.m. July 4 at Mundell Field.
Serving as the grand marshals will be members of the Tom and Rosemarie Ehrhardt family, Mike Adams said.
Adams is executive director of the Hobart Chamber of Commerce.
A Celebration of the Hobart Family was the perfect theme to honor the Ehrhardt family, to include their son, daughters, significant others and their grandchildren, Adams said.
Tom Ehrhardt, a structural engineer, has served as a city councilman and currently is on both the Plan Commission and the Board of Public Works.
Tom Ehrhardt also is president of the Maria Reiner Center and is credited as the driving force behind its creation, Adams said.
Rosemarie Ehrhardt spent her professional life as a registered nurse at St. Mary Medical Center.
The Ehrhardts have been married for 52 years and have four adult children.
The city's parade will head east on Third Street, north on Main Street, west on Old Ridge Road and south on Wisconsin Street, ending back at Mundell Field.
This marks the 138th year for Hobart's parade, one of the oldest in the state, Adams said.
Other Fourth of July events include the 33rd Annual Brickyard Run starting at 7:30 a.m. at Hobart High School; entertainment by the Allen Wronko Bank at 6:30 p.m. at Festival Park and the annual fireworks display at dusk at Festival Park.
