HOBART | Hobart High School’s Project Lead the Way- Civil Engineering students are working collaboratively to design houses utilizing the requirements set forth by Habitat for Humanity.

This entire project will take the entire 9 weeks since students will be designing everything from the foundation to the roof and also incorporating two different aspects of green building into their designs. Students are assigned a partner and must design the house based on the needs of the client. Utilizing technology, students will create floor plans and learn the architectural process involved with residential design.

The Project Lead the Way Engineering courses at HHS provide students with the opportunity for hands on, project based learning. For students interested in the engineering or the architectural field, this is an excellent opportunity to prepare for college course work.

Not only do the PLTW courses challenge students and emphasize critical thinking, but they also focus on innovation and problem solving for real world application.
