HOBART | A Gary man went into a Hobart gas station and stole cases of bottled water as well as change jars earmarked for a children's benefit fund, police said.

Donzell Goodwin, 60, was charged with two counts of conversion through Lake County court.

Police were contacted by an employee at Speedway, 4732 W. 61st Ave., about the theft on two occasions of both bottled water and of Children's Miracle Network jars, court documents state.

The jars contained about $20 to $25 in small change, court documents state.

Goodwin was seen on the store's surveillance video stealing items from the store on two occasions.
