HOBART | Hobart High School’s Advanced Placement English students are not only learning college level material while following a rigorous curriculum, but they are also having fun at the same time.
Recently, the AP Literature class, comprised of 11th grade students, concluded their unit on The Crucible with a hands-on project. Students worked in groups and selected scenes from the play, The Crucible, that they felt were most significant after we finished reading it. They explained the set-up for the context of the scene, gave a brief performance of the scene they chose using props and costumes, and then explained why they chose the scene (its impact on plot or character development).
The students truly enjoyed this group activity because it gave them the opportunity to collaborate with one another, utilize higher level thinking skills, and show their creative side!
Hobart High School offers an array of Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses in order to prepare students for college and careers. Each year, new courses are added to give students even more options to prepare themselves for life after high school.
