HOBART | Hobart High School ERTA (Emergency Rescue Technology Academy) and St Mary Medical Center Paramedic students are offering free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings at Hobart Brickie Home Football games for the 2013 season.
Hypertension and Diabetes are prevalent in American society. Nearly 1 in 3 American Adults has high blood pressure and many are unaware until they have a physical or start experiencing signs and symptoms of illness. About 7.8 percent of the population is affected by Diabetes...everyone knows someone that is Diabetic. The complications of both these conditions can drastically affect a persons quality of life and lead to exorbitant medical bills. Knowing is the first step in battling these conditions and these students are here for that reason. These students are the healthcare professionals of the future and they aleady are exhibiting the right attitude of caring about their fellow man by volunteering to provide this service.
This is a way for the students to practice these skills and offer the information to patrons of Brickie football games at no cost. As you can see from the pics they also try to have fun during the event! We look forward to seeing you at the remaining home games on September 27 (HOMECOMING) and October 4th.
