HOBART | A Hobart street department foreman was honored Wednesday by the City Council for his participation in Running To Make A Difference.
Scott Cummings was awarded a plaque and received special recognition for running 23 5K races this past year in honor of Indian Head Park, Ill., teen Kelli O'Laughlin.
Kelli was 14 in 2011 when she was stabbed to death by an intruder when she returned home from school.
Cummings has raised money through donations from each of the races he participated in and has given the proceeds to the Kelli Joy O'Laughlin Memorial Fund.
"Scott never met this young lady but he donates to this fund. ... We appreciate what he has done," Mayor Brian Snedecor said.
Cummings said he has no plans to quit running.
"I have a few more runs," Cummings said.
