HOBART | Hobart High Theatre will lead audiences to Yonkers, New York to reprise the beloved stage musical "Hello Dolly!" in a production opening Friday at Hobart High School, 2211 E. 10th St.
Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Nov. 22 and 23. A matinee is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday. Appropriate for all ages, ticket prices are $6 for students, $7 for senior citizens and $8 for adults. Purchase tickets at the door or online at www.seatyourself.biz/hobart.
With music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Michael Stewart, this classic story of the matchmaker who finds her own match is based on the play "The Matchmaker" by Thornton Wilder.
Havoc reigns supreme as widowed matchmaker Dolly Levi guarantees that everyone have a "happily" ever after as she attempts to find matches for all who cross her path.
Audiences will be tapping their toes and humming in their seats to favorites such as "Put on Your Sunday Clothes," "Before the Parade Passes By" and the title song made famous by Louis Armstrong.
"We are excited to have as an addition to our cast, a group of athletes from football, wrestling, cross country, tennis and swimming who will portray our dancing waiters," said Director Cathy Nelson.
"This marks the first time Hobart High will have a fall musical," Nelson added. Come and support the nearly 70 students and adults involved in all aspects of this production."
