HOBART | Hobart police are searching for a 43-year-old man accused of fondling a girl.
Scott M. Briggs, of Hobart, was charged Monday with child molesting and sexual misconduct with a minor, both of which are Class C felonies.
Hobart police made several attempts to locate Briggs, but he remains at large, police said.
A girl told police Briggs inappropriately touched her multiple times beginning in March 2012. The girl was 13 at the time, court documents state.
Briggs, who is the ex-boyfriend of one of the girl's relatives, lifted the girl's shirt, rubbed her stomach and had his hands below the waistline of the girl's pants, according to court documents.
The girl alleged more abuse, including a situation that occurred in August.
Court documents state the girl, members of her family and Briggs attended a festival in Hobart.
The girl jumped on Briggs' back while they were walking to his apartment, the girl told police.
While carrying her, Briggs touched her inappropriately, according to the documents.
The girl attempted to push herself off Briggs' back, but he continued to hold her for about 20 more steps before he let her down, court documents state.
Anyone who knows Briggs' whereabouts is asked to contact Hobart police at (219) 942-1125.
