HOBART | A Hobart man accosted and robbed two teenagers as they walked behind City Hall, police said.
Austin Augustine Mendez, 18, of Hobart, was charged with robbery and theft through Lake Superior Court.
Police Detective David Evans was contacted on Oct. 2 by a fellow police officer about a robbery that had occurred behind City Hall, 414 Main St.
The robbery was reported by two young men, who said they had been robbed of a cell phone and a hat, court documents said.
Police spoke to the victims and an eyewitness at a nearby restaurant, who identified Mendez and a 17-year-old juvenile as the two suspects, court documents said.
The 17-year-old boy was charged through Lake County Juvenile Court, police said.
