HOBART | A 25-year-old Hobart man took a video game system, games and movies from the Hobart home of an acquaintance, police said.

Gerald Kyle Purkey was charged Thursday with theft.

Police Det. David Evans was called on May 30 by a Hobart woman who said Purkey had been in her house the night before and had been seen leaving with a large bag, court documents state.

The woman said she then discovered several items missing from her grandson's bedroom, including a game system, numerous games and Blu Ray movies with a total value of $1,290.

Police went to Video Palace in Hobart, and the owner verified Purkey had sold him the items reported missing.

A manager at Cash Indiana in Lake Station said Purkey had sold him several of the items reported missing.
