HOBART | City Planner A. J. Bytnar likened rewriting the city's new comprehensive master plan to completing a college term paper.
"I've been working on it for some time and have all the information. Now I have to synthesize it into a document," Bytnar said.
Bytnar hopes to have the document ready for approval by city officials next month.
"It seems more daunting than it is," Bytnar said.
Information gleaned by city officials from a public meeting Tuesday at Festival Community Center will be part of the new comprehensive master plan.
Some 50 residents attended the meeting, during which time Bytnar received input and answered questions while outlining the city's 10 areas for current and future use.
"The last update we did on the master plan was 2003. A lot has changed since 2003," Bytnar said.
Some of the areas include the U.S. 30 corridor, the city's downtown, the County Line/Ind. 130 area, Ross Township, 61st Avenue/St. Mary Medical Center, the 10th Street educational corridor and the west end.
