HOBART | The Hobart police canine division recently welcomed two new dogs, Spike and Scout.

Spike, a 1-year-old Belgian malinois, was recently bought in Canada.

Spike, who was introduced at a recent Board of Public Works meeting, will be assigned to Officer Ryan Snedecor.

The second newest member to the department is Scout, a 2-year-old German shepherd from Germany.

Scout will be assigned to Cpl. Simon Gresser.

The dogs will begin their training March 1 and should be ready to assist their handlers by the beginning of April, police said.
