NEWTON COUNTY | A 52-year-old Hobart woman was critically injured Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Newton County.
The woman was eastbound on Ind. 114 near County Road 300 East just before 11 a.m. when she ran off the road, according to a release from the Newton County Sheriff's Department. She then overcorrected and went into the westbound lane.
The woman drove into a ditch and was thrown from her vehicle, the release said. An off-duty reserve officer driving in the area found the woman lying in water in the ditch.
Brook Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeff Laffoon said the woman was taken to Jasper County Hospital in critical condition.
