HOBART | The Humane Society of Hobart is hoping to find new homes for 33 cats rescued from a local hoarder, Director Brenda Slavik said.
Slavik said the cats up for adoption are all adults and mostly males.
"We're pretty packed right now at the shelter with 78 dogs and cats we're housing," Slavik said.
The rescued cats already have received feline distemper and flea treatment and are spayed and neutered, Slavik said.
The cost to adopt the cats is $10 each.
The shelter also has other cats that haven't been spayed or neutered available for adoption at a cost of $50, Slavik said.
Anyone who adopts those cats will receive a 30 percent discount coupon, which can be used at local veterinarians, Slavik said.
Dogs also are available for adoption at a cost ranging from $80 to $130.
Dogs priced at $130 have received rabies shots and are spayed or neutered, Slavik said.
The shelter, 2054 E. Ind. 130, also is accepting donations of clay cat litter, dry dog and cat food and other supplies.
Volunteers are needed, Slavik said.
Those wanting to adopt a pet can go to the shelter Facebook page or call (219) 942-0103.
