HOBART | Two men stole copper piping from a vacant house for sale in Hobart, police said.

Jeffery A. Haag, 40, and Antwan Manns, 32, both of Lake Station, were charged with burglary in Lake Criminal Court.

Officer Kevin Garber Jr. was on duty July 16 when he stopped a truck for an equipment violation near the intersection of 73rd Avenue and Colorado Street, court documents state.

Garber noticed the back seat of the vehicle was filled with cut pieces of copper piping, police said.

The two men offered conflicting stories about what they were doing and from where they were traveling, finally taking police to a house in the 4500 block of East 83rd Avenue, court documents state.
