HOBART | Two Lake Station men were charged with taking scrap metal from a closed Hobart gas station, police said.
Michael T. Dykhuis, 26, and Isaac A. Lewis, 36, were charged Wednesday with theft, a D felony, through Lake Superior Court.
Police Detective James Gonzales said he was driving past the closed Speedway gas station, 3997 W. 37th Ave., on Tuesday when he saw two men loading scrap metal into a truck, court documents state.
Gonzales said he identified himself as a Hobart police officer, prior to talking to the two men, who then provided their IDs.
