HOBART | A Merrillville couple walked into a Walmart and drove away with two computers for which they did not pay, police said.
LaRonn Royce Carey, 25, and Courtney Renee Deming, 22, were charged with theft Tuesday in Lake County court.
Police were called to the Hobart Walmart on April 13 in connection for a report of two computers taken but not paid for by a man and a woman, court documents state.
A witness told police she had seen a woman walking out of the store pushing a cart full of items, including a computer.
The witness said she heard the store security alarm go off and saw the items still had security devices on them, court documents state.
The woman with the cart was then seen entering a waiting car driven by a man.
The witness wrote down the license plate number and police were able to track the driver as Carey, court documents state.
Deming also was identified by the witness after police showed her a photo lineup, records state.
