HOBART | The sixth annual Northwest Indiana Mental Health Awareness Luncheon and Awards Program is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Avalon Manor, 355 E. U.S. 30.
Featured speaker is Jennifer Ayers-Moore, mental health advocate and sister of Nathaniel Ayers, subject of feature film "The Soloist."
The Mental Health Advocate of the Year award will be presented to Mary Beth Bonaventura, former Lake Juvenile Court judge. The luncheon event is hosted by the Ambassadors for Edgewater, a volunteer group of supporters dedicated to advancing the mission of Edgewater Systems, a community mental health center serving the needs of residents from throughout Lake and Porter counties.
Cost is $35 a person, $250 for a table of eight.
