Fire management team members from the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore are planning a prescribed burn at the 178-acre Hobart Prairie Grove in Hobart today.
The planned burn will take place on the west side of Lake George just east of Liverpool Road and south of 49th Avenue near the Lake County Parks Department's Oak Savannah Trail.
The burn is intended to restore the ecosystem and reduce the number of invasive species of plants in the area.
Smoke from the fire may be visible from Interstate 65 and downtown Hobart beginning around 10 a.m. and lasting into the afternoon.
