HOBART | At Joan Martin Elementary School, Mrs. Heather Steege’s fifth grade class is working with The Times Media Co. to promote positive news stories in their school.

Their new venture, Next Generation Media Co., was inspired by last year's pilot program, Bright Media Co.

“I think it’s really cool that we get to be like adults,” says Abigale H. "We will be writing articles about anything we want and if we’re lucky enough our articles might get in Hobartcommunity.com. All of our articles will be written at Joan Martin Elementary."

Next Generation will be working with Times Media Co.'s Community Online Director Damian Rico.

"He will be showing us how to run a media company and I think that the Next Generation will be fun and exciting because not alot of kids get to have this experience," said Abbey C. "We are pretty lucky.”

Next Generation will be reporting, photographing and videoing events, stories and more around their community.

“I think doing this you can find out more about what’s going on around us,” says Katy W.
