HOBART | A Crown Point woman broke into a friend's apartment then posed on Facebook with diamond earrings she had stolen, police said.
Rechelle Cooper, 21, was charged in Lake County court with burglary, residential entry and theft.
Police were called to a Hobart apartment Jan. 31 in connection with a burglary.
The burglary victim said Cooper had been staying with her and may have made copies of house keys then later entered her apartment, court documents state.
The woman said she came home Jan. 22 to find her apartment unlocked and several items missing, including $5,000 in cash, jewelry, electronics and clothing, court documents state.
Police questioned Cooper after the victim said she had seen her friend wearing her stolen diamond earrings in a photo on Facebook, court documents state.
Cooper denied the thefts, but police found clothing in her apartment matching the description of items stolen, court documents state.
