HOBART | Do you have any old coats taking up space in your closet? Ridge View Student Council has a way to help out you and your community.
The Ridge View Student Council has teamed up with the “Coats for Kids (and Families)” program is in its 11th annual collection and giveaway, and we are asking for the Hobart community’s help. The goal of this outreach is to provide warm new or gently used winter coats to those in need.
“Coats for Kids (and Families)” have been collecting coats from Hobart families for the past few years. They collect gently used or new coats to be given to those who need them. Each year they give away approximately 1,200 coats. Student council is encouraging students to bring in the coats that they have outgrown, so they can help other children. Community members can bring their coats to Ridge View during school hours. Bins have been provided to each school.
"I’ve got some old coats at home I don’t even wear that I can bring in. I had no idea so many people need coats,” said Allie Lavelle, fourth grade Student Council member.
The final day for coat collection is October 25, 2013, so coats can get cleaned and organized. The giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2013, 9:00am - Noon at Central Baptist Church, West 700 North, Hobart, Indiana.
