HOBART | On Nov. 26, Mrs. McKee’s first grade class at Ridge View Elementary School created Stone Soup as a class.
First, the class read the story "Stone Soup" by Ann McGovern. The moral of the story is that we all can do great things when we work together as a team. The story’s setting is during a famine, where a young man and a little old lady created soup together using limited ingredients they had.
Working together, they accomplished making a great soup together. There are many different versions of this story. It is a great read for Thanksgiving!
Also, Mrs. Potter’s students came in during this time and performed a play using a different version of Stone Soup. All of the students really enjoyed working together to accomplish a great reward!
While the students ate their Stone Soup, they all passed around a stone and said something for which they were thankful. Many students said they were thankful for their families and for school.
