Enjoy Breakfast With the Arts from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hobart Arts League, 3850 Howard St.

Join league artists and view art pieces during a pancake breakfast. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for youth 9 to 15, and free fort younger children. Carry-outs available.

The Hobart Arts League is offering Basic Beginning Introduction to Art classes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday. Some supplies are included.
The classes teach participants how to draw and paint, and  include color theory, composition, perspective and more. Participants may be required to purchase or bring some supplies for certain projects.
Classes will continue indefinitely. Cost is $16 for league members and $21 for nonmembers.

Oil painting classes

The Hobart Arts League also offers ongoing instruction in various oil painting techniques for intermediate to seasoned artist to progress into the professional field of art. Instructor Wes Berrier can teach artists how to be more effective in oil painting.

Classes are held Mondays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $75 per month.

Movies for teens

Youth can escape from the heat at a Teen Movie Marathon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the  Hobart branch of the Lake County Public Library, 100 Main St. Register to view two Harry Potter films about an orphaned boy of two powerful wizards who discovers his own magical powers on his 11th birthday. Korean veterans saluted

Hobart American Legion Post 54, 208 S. Linda St., will conduct a ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday marking the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean Conflict. Please fly your flags on Saturday to show your support for Korean Conflict veterans. There are still approximately 8,200 U.S. soldiers missing in action from Korea. After the ceremony, light refreshments will be served at Post 54.

Night at the pool

Help the Hobart Police Department celebrate National Night Out and meet your neighbors, local police and community leaders from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 6 at the City of Hobart Community Pool, 400 W. 10th St.

Pool admission is free, with free hot dogs and soft drinks. Activities include K-9 and S.W.A.T. Unit demonstrations, Child Identification Cards and child seat inspections.

Adopt a duck

The Hobart Community Foundation is selling Dam Duck Race tickets. They can be purchased from any foundation member, in front of the Hobart Post Office on Saturday mornings, and at the Summer Market on the Lake every Thursday.

Concert in the park

The Hobart City Improvement Committee concert at 7 p.m. Thursday features Joe Sibley performing a Kenny Rogers tribute in the Revelli Band Shell at Festival Park, 111 E. Old Ridge Road.
