HOBART | Six people were injured in a two-car crash Thursday night on the frontage road north of Star Dust Bowling Alley off U.S. 30, police said.
The six, two of whom received extensive injuries, were transported by ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and the Methodist Hospitals Southlake Campus in Merrillville, police Detective Jeremy Ogden said.
The crash, which was reported at 9:31 p.m., apparently happened when a 19-year-old Valparaiso man ran into a car that was leaving the bowling alley.
The Valparaiso man, who told police he ran a stop sign and didn't have his car lights on, was cited for disregarding a stop sign and driving at an unsafe speed given the weather conditions, Ogden said.
Two individuals had to be extricated by Hobart firefighters from the northbound car, Ogden said.
