HOBART | Early education is critical to the School City of Hobart and vital to fulfilling our mission. Parents As Teachers (PAT) will be celebrating "Springfest" to help fund the organization's initiatives to help our little Brickies get off to a great start!
You are cordially invited to the School City of Hobart Spring Fest fundraiser from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, March 14, at Hobart High School.
We are asking for your support. This is our third annual event to support our Parents As Teachers program.
Parents As Teachers (PAT) is a program for children ages birth to five years. PAT’s mission is to provide the information, support, and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. PAT does this through a combination of personal visits in the families’ homes, playgroups, developmental screenings, and providing a resource network that assists families to connect and possibly overcome barriers to accessing other much needed services such as speech therapy.
Since the inception of PAT, parents are more knowledgeable about child–rearing practices and child development. They also engage in more language and literacy promoting behaviors with their children. PAT children identified with developmental delays are more likely to overcome them by age three. PAT children also score higher on kindergarten readiness tests and on standard measures of reading, math, and language in Grades 1-4. Our program currently serves so many families, and there is a waiting list.
