Hobart band presents review

Youths to showcase talent

SCHERERVILLE | Leap into the Arts, a fundraising gala to benefit and showcase youth vocal, dance and orchestra organizations in Northwest Indiana, is from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Halls of St. George, 905 E. More than movies at film fest

GARY | The Glen Theatre hosts its third annual Black Film Festival featuring Gary native and Hollywood actor William L. Johnson, a graduate of Emerson School of Visual and Performing Arts, and Reggie Gaskins, actor, writer, producer and director. It's from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Glen, 20 W. Ridge Road. Four film producers/actors will answer questions following movies each night. The Gary Branch of the NAACP will host an opening night reception at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The feature movie is "Note to Self," preceded by two movie shorts. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from members of the NAACP or by calling (219) 949-5565. Cost at the door is $30. Clark Road Church Foundation, the Froebel Park Committee, Brothers2Brothers, and Brothers’ Keeper will join the Achievers to host Saturday night. Featured movies will be "The Divorce" and "American Promise." Tickets for Saturday are $15; admission at the door is $20. Tickets may be purchased from any of the sponsors. Tickets for both nights are available at Beautiful Things in the Village Shopping Mall in Gary. Combo tickets for both nights are $35.

Antique show is next weekend

CROWN POINT | The Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce hosts is spring antique and collectibles show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Industrial Arts Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St., Crown Point. Admission is $4 for those 13 and older.

Railroaders celebrate 35th
