HOBART | On Feb. 19, the Tri Kappa Spelling Bee contestants worked hard to be selected to particiapte in this event.
Twenty four 5th graders from Hobart Elemenatry Schools competed in the spelling bee. It was a very close call for 3rd place.
Justin R. and Teresa tied for third and ended up having to have a spell off between the two of them. Coming in second place was Miguel and in first was Bryan.
It was a very intense and nerve-racking spelling bee with lots of hard words to spell. The spelling bee took place at Ridge View Elementary school in the gymnasium. There were 24 students in all, and six rounds through the spelling bee.
The prizes were 100 dollars for first. Second place won 50 dollars and third place also received 50 dollars. These three winners were the districts top spellers but the other competors still gave there best trying to win.
Good effort participants. Don't get discouraged if you lost, you all gave great effort and you all deserved to win. Thank you all for competing to get into the spelling bee and thank you for participating in the spellling bee if you were chosen. If you didn't make this Tri Kapppa Spelling Bee there's always other years that you can compete. Good job!
