Bring your costumed kids to trick or treat in downtown Hobart from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at participating merchants who display a table outside or an orange poster in their storefront.
Children’s activities will be available in the Third and Main streets corner parking lot, including face painting and a Halloween craft with Rhythm, Rhyme & Party Time. The Hobart Garden Club will create a fall photo spot and distribute flower bulbs. Suncrest Church volunteers will be popping corn. Be ready to do the Monster Mash with DJ Donny.

Halloween hours for Hobart
The city of Hobart has announced trick or treat door-to-door hours in the neighborhoods will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Residents wishing to participate should turn on their porch lights. Please drive carefully and be extra vigilant to keep our children safe. Hobart police will be patrolling; ask them for assistance should you have any concerns.
Stay in shape
With the weather turning cooler, residents who want to walk to stay in shape are advised that Hobart High School has announced its walking track at 2211 E. 10th St. is open to all residents from 6 to 7:15 a.m. and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday when school is in session.
There is no charge, but participants need to show their driver’s license or state ID as proof of residency.
Walk or run with Santa
Spread holiday cheer while running through Hobart's downtown streets in the Santa Walk & Fun Run on Dec. 7.
This will be a great opportunity to have fun with family and friends and to keep off that bit of extra holiday weight while raising money for local charities. Check www.cityofhobart.org in November for more information.
Shred those papers
Looking to shed another kind of pounds? The Secure Shred truck will be available at 10 a.m. Nov. 23 at the Hobart Family YMCA, 601 W. 40th Ave.
Bring old personal papers for shredding; you can even stay in your car and drive through to drop off documents for shredding. Cost is only 25 cents per pound. More information is available at www.hobartymca.org.
Party with the dolls
An American Girl Doll Halloween Party will be held by the Lake Ridge Women’s Club from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the St. John Township Center, 1515 U.S. 30, Schererville. This fun activity for girls and their mothers and other interested adults is returns with light refreshments, crafts, dancing, raffles and surprises.
Enter a raffle for two of the newest American Girl Dolls. Doll clothes and accessories will be available for those who like to shop early for Christmas.
