HOBART | Two Gary men have been charged with stealing a truck from a Hobart business, police said.
Steven Ryan Nauta, 34, was charged with auto theft and unauthorized entry of motor vehicle.
Dean Patrick Davis, 37, was charged with auto theft, attempted auto theft, criminal mischief, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and failure of duty.
Police were called Nov. 7 by the owner of I-65 Auto, who reported a Ford F-250 taken from his shop, court documents state.
The owner told police that several other vehicles had been broken into and sustained damage, court documents state.
Police used video surveillance from the shop to identify Davis and Nauta as the individuals who stole the truck, court documents state.
Nauta told police he and Davis had left Kohl's, after taking two jackets, and had run out of gas.
Nauta said he and Davis broke into several vehicles before stealing the truck that they got started, court documents state.
