HOBART | Two Hobart men attempted to obtain pain medication through a forged prescription, police said.

Dannie Lee Lewis, 27, and Andrew Pendleton, 20, were charged in Lake Criminal court with forgery and attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud or deceit, police said. Lewis also was charged with theft.

Police said they contacted Oct. 26 by Fagen's Pharmacy, 7760 E. 27th Ave., in connection with an attempt by Lewis to obtain prescription medication for Pendleton.

The pharmacist assistant told police she became suspicious of the actions of the two men and contacted the doctor listed on the prescription, court documents state.

The doctor she contacted said he was not in his office on the day the prescription was written for pain medication and couldn't have written it, police said.
