All westbound lanes of the Borman Expressway at Ripley Street reopened shortly after noon Thursday, some five hours after a semi rolled over there and jammed traffic.

Indiana State Police at 7:15 a.m. warned the semi was blocking all lanes of traffic.

Sgt. Ann Wojas, of the Indiana State Police, said the semi was loaded and had to be off-loaded before it can be uprighted and removed from the roadway.

According to Wojas, at 7 a.m., a 2013 Volvo semi pulling a box trailer being driven by a New York man was coming from the Indiana Toll Road exit ramp onto the westbound Borman when he drove through the curve too quickly, causing his unsecured load of 42,000 pounds of auto parts to shift.

The shift caused the semi and box trailer to roll onto the driver's side. Wojas said the semi, driven by Gregory Warchol, 32, of Brooklyn, is owned by Multi Logistics of Elmhurst, Ill., and was traveling from Meadville, Pa., to Illinois.

A second semi, a 2007 Mack pulling a loaded flatbed, was westbound in the middle lane when Warchol's semi rolled over in front of him. The Sterling, Ill., man driving the truck went off the road, into a water-filled ditch and landed upright in a grassy area just north of the shoulder. He was not injured.

Warchol was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries in the crash, Wojas said. He was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision and driving with an unsecured load.
