CROWN POINT | The sudden death of an expert witness has postponed the child molesting trial against a Lake Station man.

Thad Dale Stewart Jr., 31, faces two Class A felony and two Class C felony charges of child molesting in a case that stems from May 2009. His trial was slated to begin Monday with jury selection in Judge Clarence Murray's Lake Criminal Courtroom.

However, defense attorney James Thiros told Murray about the death of Dr. John Pless, a pathologist/forensic scientist with the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Murray vacated Monday’s trial. Another court date on further proceedings is set for May 8.
