LAKE STATION | A 29-year-old East Chicago man pointed and then shot a gun at a couple who were delivering newspapers at a trailer park, police said.
Jesus Pedro Camarillo was charged Tuesday through Lake Superior Court with criminal recklessness and pointing a firearm.
Police were called to the Pine Village trailer park in Lake Station at 3:28 a.m. Monday about gunshots being fired, court documents state.
When police arrived, a couple delivering newspapers in the trailer park said a man had gotten out of his truck, then asked what they were doing there, court documents state.
The couple told him and the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at them through a window, court documents state.
The couple drove away and said they saw a muzzle flash and heard a shot fired, police said.
Camarillo, who told police he had been drinking and celebrating his birthday in the Lake Station area, was identified by the couple as the man who had fired a shot at them.
Police said they also recovered the fired gun inside garbage.
